Pre-Kindergarten

clean classroom

When children enter the Pre-Kindergarten program, also known as Transitional Kindergarten (TK), families can trust that their children will be nurtured in the love of Christ as they prepare for a successful transition to Kindergarten and beyond!

Our hybrid program offers the best of both worlds, combining the structure of in-person learning with the flexibility of homeschooling. Meeting at school three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) while continuing learning at home on Mondays and Fridays, this program focuses on fostering academic readiness alongside vital social skills and interactions. It is thoughtfully designed to enhance children’s academic, social, and developmental abilities, equipping them for the exciting challenges that await in their educational journey. This program is ideal for children who may be slightly too young for Kindergarten yet are eager to explore foundational concepts, or for those who would benefit from an extra year of preparation. With a rich curriculum filled with hands-on activities, play, and joy, children will graduate from our program ready for the next steps in their academic and spiritual growth.

Ratio

With an average 1:10 teacher-to-child ratio, each child receives individual attention and care during this important year of learning and development. At Perseverance Christian Academy, our lower-than-state-recommended ratio ensures that every child gets the support they need to build a strong foundation.

Daily Activities

Welcome Circle Time

Each morning begins with a reminder of the great love our heavenly Father has for us. Bible reading and worship set the tone for a day centered on Christ, helping children develop a lifelong habit of putting Him first (Psalm 5:3).

Outdoor Time

Children will run, jump, and play outside, strengthening their large muscle groups and gross motor skills. This active time encourages monitored risk-taking and prepares them to focus on fine motor skill-building activities.

Snack

Healthy, organic snacks are provided mid-morning to fuel students’ brains. As they sit with peers and socialize, they will experience new foods—some of which they have grown and harvested in our outdoor Organic Garden.

Exploratory Activities

Instead of multiple centers, the program focuses on thematic projects and group tasks that encourage collaboration and creativity. Through these integrated activities, children will practice problem-solving, critical thinking, and social skills in a dynamic environment.

Circle Time

During instructional group time, children gather under their teacher’s guidance to focus on various skills. Teachers introduce engaging activities, questions, and prompts for discussion and exploration.

Language Arts

Our TK students begin an exciting journey of pre-literacy development, rooted in the understanding that language is a gift from God. Children will focus on letter and word identification, enhance their phonological awareness, and expand their vocabulary through engaging reading activities. As they explore literature, they will reflect on God’s wisdom and how His teachings guide their lives. Spanish is integrated into daily activities with the support of fluent Spanish educators, enhancing bilingual literacy skills and fostering cognitive growth, cultural awareness, and smoother cross-cultural communication.

Mathematics

In our TK math program, students discover the order and patterns in creation. They will learn numbers up to 20, compare groups, explore patterns, and study various shapes. We utilize the Singapore Math approach, integrating biblical concepts to reinforce their understanding of math as a reflection of God's design.

Social Studies

Our social studies curriculum deepens TK students' understanding of their place in God's world by exploring their local community, family, and personal identity, rooted in the belief that they have been beautifully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Through discussions and activities, students will develop a sense of stewardship and responsibility within God's creation. Additionally, they will engage in simple service projects, fostering empathy and a commitment to helping others in their community.

Science

In our science explorations, students will observe, describe, and make predictions about the natural world through a biblical lens. They will delve into physical, life, and earth sciences, marveling at God’s diverse creation. Our visits to the on-campus STEAM Lab provide hands-on opportunities for experiments and activities that encourage curiosity and critical thinking. Through collaborative projects, students will learn to ask questions, explore hypotheses, and discover the wonders of God's world.
